When managers and employees don't communicate well, small problems can become big ones. If that happens, you’ll need to invest significant amounts of time, money and resources to resolve the issues while production, employee morale, recruiting and retention will suffer.
This course focuses on the attributes and goals of "effective communications" and "leadership,” and challenges the participants to create new visions of themselves as leaders. Distinguishing between "managers" and "leaders," the course concentrates on what it means to be a leader, how to communicate as a leader, and how to use those communication skills to manage people better and improve individual and team relationships and overall performance.
Through the use of case scenarios, hypotheticals, and facilitated conversation, participants create personal definitions of leadership that allow them to reset expectations of themselves and improve their communications with each other and with their teams. They engage in practical application of the concepts to see how effective communications make them better managers and support higher performance levels. Participants learn to problem solve with each other and are taught how to seek and receive input and feedback as part of their leadership roles.
