This interactive workshop has modules about different aspects of the employment relationship and major employment laws. Applying that information in practical ways, the course focuses on:
- Understanding “at will” employment, effective management of “at will” employees, and enhancing communications while setting clear expectations
- Overview of wrongful termination
- Identifying and analyzing the causes of substandard performance
- "Hot topic" wage and hour issues (such as exempt vs. non exempt employees, minimum wage, overtime, and employee classifications
- Overview of the major employment discrimination laws and how to incorporate best practices into people management
- Information security (confidentiality, employee privacy and appropriate use of electronic communication systems)
