This course about unlawful sexual harassment in the workplace is focused on the information and skills that participants need to identify harassing conduct and take action to stop it and prevent it from happening again in the future.

Participants learn about various laws that prohibit sexual and sex-based harassment in the workplace, the kinds of behavior that could be considered unlawful sexual  harassment or retaliation, a people manager’s role and obligations to provide a harassment free work environment, and what to do if they learn about or suspect there's harassing conduct taking place.

Participants learn some of the management lessons derived from the different kinds of unlawful sexual harassment claims and how to turn those lessons into best management practices.  Through interactive problem solving exercises that apply the information to real-life case scenarios, participants are shown how issues involving unlawful sexual harassment can arise every day and their role in addressing it. They also learn the difference between "harassment" and "unlawful harassment" and the need to respond to inappropriate conduct in any context.

This course can be customized to include:

  • Your company’s specific harassment policies and a policy receipt and acknowledgment form for your training records.
  • Modules about unlawful discrimination to provide a broader context for the relationship between discrimination and harassment.
  • Content based on training requirements in Connecticut and Maine.

(BGC also offers AB 1825: California Sexual Harassment Prevention.)
